Transcription Work
Typists:
Openings for experienced and entry level transcribers. Must be able to type well and accurately. Need attention to detail and a willingness to learn and follow directions. Need a good ear for language and a strong sense of written English with an ability to type well without error, plus determination to correct your work prior to submission. These are work from home (or telecommute) positions. Typically you'll need a reliable computer running Microsoft Word, high speed Internet access; head set; and, if hired, a foot pedal. Following departments available through numerous (approximately 150) companies: general, IT, medical, legal and financial. Some companies are willing to train you to be a top notch transcriptionist if you aren't one already.
News Transcribers:
At-home transcribers needed to produce verbatim transcripts. Their clients include: CNN, FOX and MSNBC. Must be able to work independently and meet deadlines. Familiarity with current events and AP style a big plus. Requirements include: high-speed Internet connection; digital foot pedal system; bachelor's degree in English or journalism; at least three years of work experience. Pay is $18 per half-hour file, which should take 1 hour to complete, plus download and upload time.
Financial At-Home Transcriber:
Experienced transcribers for financial transcription duties. Must be accurate, deadline-oriented, and reliable. The hours are flexible, but deadlines are firm. PC requirements: Internet connection (dial-up or highspeed), RealPlayer, Transcription software/foot pedal for digital .ra sound files.
Word Processors:
Transcribe audio content of various corporate communications, video productions, web casts and other conferences. 80 words per minute, excellent grammar and proofreading skills. Experienced with both MS Word and Excel. Strong computer literacy.
Bilingual Word Processors:
Transcribe Spanish audio content of corporate communications, video productions, web casts and conferences. Preferred that Spanish is your native language with proven competency in English. Must have excellent grammar and proofreading skills. Need experience with MS Word. Strong computer literacy.
Law Enforcement Word Processors:
Transcribe audio content of criminal investigations, 911 calls, surveillance report, body wires, etc. You must have prior experience transcribing for a law enforcement agency, type 80+ WPM, have excellent grammar and outstanding accuracy and proofreading skills. Must also have experience with MS Word. Strong computer literacy. A full criminal background check is required for contractors doing this work.
